Set high on a cliff above the Atlantic Ocean stands the magnificent "CRANE", Barbados' oldest resort hotel.

The original hotel, built in the 1700s, was integrated into the expansion of 1887, which was also integrated into the expansion of 2001, and features quite possibly the most spectacular views on the entire island, from the world-renowned pool, framed by a row of classic Greek columns overlooking Crane Beach, to the en suite private pools, Resort Apartments, or Private Residences; magnificent views are de rigueur at The Crane.

Crane Beach, a mere 200 steps below the hotel, was named one of the "World's Top 10 Beaches" by "The Lifestyles of The Rich and Famous". Dramatic cliffs embrace the great expanse of pink sand and bright turquoise waters offering guests a compelling view.


The name Crane Beach was coined two centuries ago when the formation of a protective coral reef allowed small ships to sail safely in and out of the natural harbor. Adjacent to the resort, where Cliff House stands, was the crane used for raising and lowering cargo, it is from here that the name Crane Beach was adopted.
